A designer aims to create fashions that express their personality in a way that allows the individuals wearing the clothing to express themselves as well. These young designers are helping our winners embrace their personal style in spite of their disease.

Third Year, Production Management Major

Alexa's love for fashion began in high school. She took up sewing as a hobby, and it eventually became her life's passion. Alexa loves the satisfaction she gets each time she executes a sketch and creates a tangible garment. While completing her degree in Fashion Design at FIT, Alexa designed an organic, fashion-forward collection for the Sustainable Business and Design fashion show. In honor of her grandmother who died from cancer, Alexa gathered a team of student designers who put on a special fashion show as part of the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" benefit. The show raised over $3,000, and Alexa and her colleagues have been invited to return next year. This year, she held a prestigious internship with an esteemed designer and even had the chance to attend New York Fashion Week! Alexa is very excited to design for the Addressing Psoriasis™ Fashion Show and watch the winners show others with psoriasis that they can be confident in their personal style. She says, "I look forward to making a garment for one of the winners that leaves them feeling beautiful inside and out!"
