A designer aims to create fashions that express their personality in a way that allows the individuals wearing the clothing to express themselves as well. These young designers are helping our winners embrace their personal style in spite of their disease.

Amanda Shepherd

Brooklyn, NY
Second Semester of One-Year Degree Program, Fashion Design Major

At eight years old, Amanda was so inspired by the costumes in her hometown’s Christmas display that she decided to create two elf costumes from scratch on her mother’s sewing machine. She then convinced her brother to stand outside in the snow to display her work and act out their very own Santa’s workshop for the neighborhood! Since then, Amanda’s passion for design has continued to grow. She formerly worked as a graphic designer and now is pursuing her second degree in fashion design. Her expertise in aesthetic arts extends to her personal life, where she spends much of her free time screen printing and drawing. Amanda is excited to have the chance to apply her creative skills in a unique and helpful way as a designer in the Addressing Psoriasis™ Fashion Show. She says, "The Addressing Psoriasis™ Fashion Show is a rare opportunity to have the power to do something important."
